    Led by Monsignor Josip Lenkić, a vicar general; the candle lit by prof. dr. sc Dijana Vican, dean of the University of Zadar. Parishes, communities and Relja, Stanovi and Bili Brig parish choires are participating in the event.

    The famous Croatian songwriter together with Fiumens Mediteran Orchestra will be performing hits like ''Dani ljubavi'' (Days of Love), ''Dok tebe ljubim'' (While I'm kissing you), ''Stojin na kantunu'' (I'm standing on the corner) written by his first band Đavoli as well as others like ''Ponoćna zvona'' (Midnight Bells), ''Zar više nema nas' (Is there no more you and I)', ''Rijeka snova'' (The River of Dreams)', ''Anđela, anđele'' (Angel, Angel)''.

Sunday, December 4

    In 2001, due to 130 years of existence, Gradska glazba Zadar was given The City of Zadar Award for special contribution to music. Today it consists of 40 active members many of whom were part of ''Mala škola'' (Young School) led by more experienced musicians. The orchestra performs clarions, special and promenade concerts in both Zadar and Zadar County.
  • 12 p.m. – Maša and the Bear, theater play for children – the short version
    ''Maša and the Bear – love and happiness forever'' – Children's New Year's Eve celebration will be held at Višnjik on December 28 at 6 p.m. and will feature entertainment programme with original characters in costumes. Meet Maša and the Bear at Zadar Advent.

Monday, December 5

  • 10 a.m. – the opening of ''Dani Sunca'' (Sunny Days) fair organised by ''Eko Zadar'' association in People's Square
    'Sunny Days'', the fair of healthy food, traditional products and souvenirs, will be held from December 5 to December 10, in People's square as the part of Advent in Zadar festival. Small producers of organic and traditionally made food, drinks, oil, medicinal herbs, bio cosmetics, art and craft products and souvenirs will exhibit their merchandise. During this festival ''Eko Zadar'' association will daily and for free put at disposal one stall called ''Štand dobre volje (The Stall of good will) for other associations and charity organisations to use.
  • 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. – Children's Christmas workshop - painting of XXL stocking
    Making of a giant stocking for St Nicholas - painting Christmas ornaments on it; coming up with different interesting shapes, painting and cutting them. Each child works on his or her Christmas ornament that is later put on above mentioned stocking.

    Every Tuesday in December during Advent a special children's programme featuring children from Zadar, Zadar county as well as other parts of Croatia will be held. During this Children's Christmas festival children will perform the most popular Christmas songs (traditional and popular ones as well as Christmas hits) together with Croatian and international hits. Soloists of Libretići children's choir, Igraonice Zazu dance groups and Maritime High School Zadar school band will participate in children's Christmas festival. Iva Prgić, popularly known as ''Zadar little star'' together with other ''little stars'' will participate in ''The Way to the Stars'' music talent show.

    A.J.Jazz Trio, an acoustic band from Zadar and Biograd consisting of the pianist and leader Ante Jeličić, a bassist Josip Marcelić and a drummer Vedran Supičić, performs its own swing, bossa nova, modal and free jazz style songs. This interesting band defies all jazz stereotypes. Jazz music is a symbol of freedom, equality, humanism, open- mindedness and never ending quest to A.J. Jazz Trio. These values can be recognized in all their songs which are written by their leader Ante Jeličić. Ellena Stella, a famous Zadar singer, will be joining them on stage.

    All those who come to another ball will surely have a great time dancing to mambo, bolero and cha-cha-cha rhythms played by the band ''Zadrani''. The band was formed in 1966 by Davor Strenja and Mirko Morić and after the gathering in 2006 they held many balls in a one year period. Their repertoire includes evergreen songs and the music of the 60s and 70s.

  • 9 p.m. – JET SET, a concert
    JET SET band is a famous Zadar trio consisting of excellent musicians that have been together for more than 20 years. They are known to be a multi instrumental band that performs cover songs of both Croatian and international hits as well as their own work. They are the authors of an evergreen hit called ''Dite zadarsko'' (A Child of Zadar). They perform jazz pop songs with an authentic Mediterranean melody and use flute, saxophone, keyboards, guitars and conga.

  • 7.30 p.m. a Christmas concert in St. Donatus Church in Zadar
    ''Turopoljsko srce - Srcu Zadra'' (A Turopolje heart to the heart of Zadar ), a traditional winter concert, will feature songs from all over Croatia with the emphasis on traditional instruments. The streets of Zadar will become their stage while they perform folk songs and the visitors will have a chance to try Turopolje traditional food (kotolovina - stew made of various kinds of pork and sausages) in Roman Forum.

  • 8 p.m. – SWINGERS, a concert
    The audience will be able to enjoy a true spectacle listening to retro music and dancing to evergreen hits. The band Swingers, inspired by the American swing revival, was formed in 1999 and held its first concert in November that year in ''Tvornica'' (a well-known club in Zagreb). The band soon started mixing different styles of music from the 40s, 50s and early 60s as well as swing, R&B, rockabilly, rock, twist, mambo and calypso music. ''Samo jednom se ljubi-tribute to Ivo Robić'' (True Love only comes once in a Lifetime –a tribute to Ivo Robić) is their most famous album for which they won ''Porin'' (the most important Croatian music award) in ''The Best pop album'' category. It also contained their two greatest hits: ''Jabuke i trešnje'' (Apples and Cherries) and ''Reci da me voliš (Mucho, mucho, mucho) (Say you Love me (Mucho, mucho, mucho).

  • 11 a.m. – NAŠI MALI GUŠTI (Our Little Pleasures) - the opening ceremony
    Naši mali gušti (Our Little Pleasures) a festival that is being held for 11 years in a row, is a traditional sales exhibition of food, drinks, delicacy and souvenirs from Zadar County but also other visiting counties. It is an excellent opportunity for small producers from Zadar and other parts of Croatia to present their products to their buyers who will have the opportunity to taste these delicacies.
    The festival is held from December 12 to December 23 in Five Wells Square. This years' Our Little Pleasures Festival will not be just a sales exhibition but also an educational fair because it will feature professional lectures for entrepreneurs as well as workshops where the audience will have the opportunity to see the production of aromatic cookies, jewellery and souvenirs, bio cosmetic soap and creams, fig products and much more.

    Pieces of crepe paper and little Christmas stars on sticks are glued onto Christmas tree template: planting Christmas Wheat and decorating pots, writing letters to Santa.

    Our Christmas festival programme promises the best party for our youngest guests on Saint Lucia's Day. The best known traditional and popular Christmas songs will be sung and ''U pokretu'' dance group, Zadar dance ensemble, Zadar majorette team and Zadar Tornadele as well as other dance groups will show their dance moves.

    ka crescendo - A cappella group A.K.A. Crescendo of the University of Zadar. Members: Matea Biloglav, Nikolina Brala, Anđela Cmrečki, Filip Gal, Ana-Marija Galiot, Lucija Grabovac, Josipa Kolega, Dora Kanjer, Šime Mračić, Filip Panza, Filip Rušin, Jakov Šuto.

    The Ars Cantabile ensemble has been active in Zadar since 2012 fostering distinctive vocal style performances of pop, rock, blues, jazz and gospel music. The ensemble participates in numerous cultural events and fundraising events, such as the concert for the restoration of the Rector's Palace, concert to help the flood victims in Slavonia, etc., it collaborates with artists and institutions in Zadar and its surroundings, performs actively and organizes cultural events. The initiative and organization of two concerts must be mentioned here.
    The first concert is called In Love with Zadar 2020 for the purpose of promoting Zadar’s candidacy in the race for the prestigious title of European Capital of Culture 2020.
    Members of the ensemble are especially proud of the initiative and organization of a charity concert called Together for Life Ars Cantabile and Guests, which was held in March this year and attended by a range of top artists, whose aim was to encourage and contribute to the establishment and equipping of the Oncology Department of the General Hospital Zadar.
    Professor Igor Cecić is the artistic director of the ensemble.

    The band was formed in 2010 and its popularity has been growing each year probably due to the fact they always try to bring somethng new into their concerts like dressing up as Elvis Presley or the Blues Brothers and other famous musicians. They have recorded four songs so far and their debutant one called ''Đir po gradu'' (''Strolling around the city'') won the best new artist award at Zadarfest 2010. Their other songs include titles like ''Pogledaj me''-'Look at me'', ''Ispod škura''-''Under the window shutters'' features a well-known actress from Zadar Tamara Šoletić and the latest one features famous singer Bepo Matešić.

  • 6 p.m. – lighting the fourth Advent candle
    Led by Monsignor dr. Želimir Puljić, an archbishop; the candle lit by Mr božidar Kalmeta, the mayor of Zadar. Parishes, communities and Katedrala and Sv Šime parish choires are participating in the event.
  • 6.30 p.m. – a holiday music
  • 8 p.m. – SYNTHETICA, a concert
    Until recently this band was known as Vafunkoolers. They mostly sing cover songs of pop, funk, disco and soul international hits. The band consists of six members three of which are vocalists (2 females and 1 male) with the support of keyboards, guitar, bass guitar and drum machine beat.

    Last year's first Santa race was very successful bringing a lot of media attention as well as participants. On this third Tuesday in December another one will be held. Magnificat choir, Libretići children's choir, Ožanić choir, Fjok and Bersice children's klapa, Zadar majorette team, Mickey and Minnie (invited by Santa humself), popular ''little stars'' and many others will surely entertain you before, during and after the race. It is important to say that this year's race will be held in the evening which makes it even more interesting. We ask all citizens to join, all you need is a Santa costume.

    CENTRAL is a group from Zadar which performs at large events and smaller acoustic club gigs in Zadar County and beyond. Their repertoire covers quality music aimed at a wider audience and includes foreign and domestic hits as well as their own original songs.
    Group members have years of musical experience, they participated in festivals and in the popular music TV show The Voice and they have been awarded on many occasions.

    Pacific Bullets is a cover band from Zadar whose repertoire consists of rockabilly and rock'n'roll musicians like Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent, Johnny Cash, Eddie Cochran, Roy Orbison, Ritchie Valens, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Stray Cats, The Ventures and The Shadows. The greatest hits or evergreen hits to be more precise can be recognized in these songs that are full of country, blues, swing and surf sound.

    Đani Stipaničev raised to fame with his debut studio album Kartolina iz Dalmacije (A Postcard from Dalmatia) in 2006. It contained his own songs as well as cover songs of older Dalmatian hits. His next studio album, released in 2007, served as a reminder of the concert held in Zagreb Theatre Komedija under the baton of Dinko Appelt. Many artists like Josipa Lisac, Sandra Bagarić, Renata Sabljak, Danijela Pintarić, Barbara Othman, Vlatka Burić, Ervin Baučić, klapa "Dalmati", Revijski orkestar made guest appearances. Besides singing his own songs Đani also sang old hits like: "Beautiful Maria Of My Soul", "Con te pariro", "Hair" ("I Got Life"), "Neka cijeli ovaj svijet" (Let This Whole World), "Gubec-beg" (A love song).

    The band Vista is a well-known band from Zadar made of six experienced musicians who will certainly make the best New Year Eve's show. Their repertoire is made of Croatian and international songs and they make an excellent and energetic live show adjusted to all sorts of events: club shows, festivals, various gala and corporate dinners.
  • 10 p.m. – Varoš Kult /Dišpet terrace – Harmonija Accordion Orchestra
    Super cool metaphysical orchestra that wishes to be different from the others and show that accordion music doesn't have to fit in strictly defined boundaries. More and more people have recently had a chance to get to know our different side and wide repertoire performed by this accordian quintet, a drummer and a singer.

    Klapa Intrade (klapa is a form of traditional a capella singing from Croatia) that always does unique and spectacular concerts in either venues or concert halls and regularly performs outside Croatia has been the most popular klapa in Croatia for the last few years.
    Ivan Zak, a singer - songwriter, is a musician who performs at more than 200 concerts a year and is regularly greeted with ovations by the audience who loudly sings along. He was awarded two gold and one silver plaques for the most sold songs for his hits “Bolja od najbolje” (Better of the Best) , “Naučila si me” ( You taught me), “Duguješ mi ljeto” (You owe me summer), “Tko mi te krade” (Who is stealing you?), ''Pretjerujem'' (I'm exaggerating) and his fellow musicians gave him Platinum forte for extremely high number of sold records.
  • 11 p.m. – Roman Forum – Synthetica (Zadar) + Living Room (Šibenik)
    This band was until recently known as Vafunkoolers. They mostly sing cover songs of pop, funk, disco and soul international hits. The band consists of six members three of which are vocalists (2 females and 1 male) with the support of keyboards, guitar, bass guitar and drum machine beat.
    The band Living Room consists of excellent musicians from Šibenik: a drummer Victor Grgas Grando, a bassist Nikola Lacmanović, a percussionist Damir Šuljak, a keyboardist Mate Anić, a guitarist Siniša Jelovčić and two vocalists Jasna Luna Jozić and Toni Ante Bojčić. The band does covers of Croatian and international rock songs.
  • 11 p.m. – a platform between HNK (Zadar National Theatre) and La Bodega – Black Cofee
    Black Coffee is a famous jazz band from Zadar and Split which was formed in 1993. Their first album called ''Black Coffee'' was released in 1996 and two of the most popular Croatian singers, Oliver Dragojević and Gibonni as well as famous actor and artist Božidar Alić, made guest appearances. The group won Porin for the best jazz performance for their ''Night & Day'' comsposition which was performed together with Oliver Dragojević.

  • 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. - Children’s Christmas workshop "BOŽIĆNI TULJČIĆI" (Christmas cylinders - Christmas trees)
    Cylinders (Christmas tree templates) are made of collage paper and their sides glued together. Colourful circles are cut. Small Christmas stars are cut and glued to Christmas trees edges that are then glued to collage paper and decorated. A small surprise (a candy) is prepared under each tree.

  • 6 p.m. Zadar ball, the folk ensemble from Zadar, KUD Zadarski tanac, will perform Zadar county and the Adriatic cultural zone folk dances. They were formed in 2014 to promote tradition and cultural heritage.
